COVID-19 update from Department for Education
We received this information from the Department for Education today:
Physical distancing and density requirements
The current room density requirements of 1 person per 4sqm does not apply for education sites and services. However all adults must comply, wherever possible, with the 1.5m physical distancing.
Where school events or activities are held offsite (such as licenced venues), all adults must comply with the full SA Directions as per the venue’s COVID-Safe Plan or Management Plan.
The AHPPC (Australian Health Protection Principal Committee) does not believe that the following is appropriate or practical in classrooms or corridors:
- maintaining 1.5m between students (non-adults)
- the ‘venue density rule’.
Although they are not mandatory, SA Health has recommended that South Australians wear face masks in public places where it’s difficult to physical distance. This includes shopping centres, supermarkets and public transport.
Staff should wear face masks in staff rooms and meeting rooms where there are other adults. Please continue meeting online or via teleconference where possible.
It is not a requirement for children to wear masks while at school or for school staff to wear masks in the classroom.
Access to school and preschool grounds
Leaders should minimise parents, volunteers, and non-urgent service providers entering the site where possible. We encourage site leader discretion.
The following are considered essential and can continue to enter the grounds providing all details are recorded for contact tracing purposes:
- facilities management and building contractors
- pre-service teachers and TAFE students
- student support services (wellbeing and allied health professions)
- transition visits.
Thank you for completing the Microsoft form during the school closure days.
With all staff back on site, all schools and preschools must revert back to recording daily attendance into EDSAS, EYS or EMS by 4.00pm daily.
