The Education Standards Board (ESB) is an independent statutory authority dedicated to upholding the highest standards in education and early childhood services across South Australia. Responsible for the registration and regulation of early childhood services, and registration of government and non-government schools for domestic and overseas students. The ESB ensures compliance with the National Quality Framework and associated legislation. The ESB’s role includes monitoring, assessing, and supporting providers to promote safety, quality, and developmental outcomes for children and young people from birth to age 18. Through its regulatory and advisory functions, the ESB fosters equitable, high-quality educational environments that prioritise health, well-being, and continuous improvement.

A visionary Chief Executive (CE) is sought to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for the organisation. This role involves three key statutory positions: Government Schools Registrar, Non-Government Schools Registrar, and Early Childhood Services Registrar, each with significant legislative responsibilities. Reporting to the Presiding Member and Board, the CE will drive the implementation of strategic priorities, operational excellence, and act as a proactive and contemporary regulator for the ESB. Leading a dedicated team of 72, you will create a professional and supportive workplace, while ensuring the achievement of organisational goals. This pivotal role requires a leader who can balance regulatory precision with collaboration, innovation, political acumen, and effective stakeholder engagement across schools, early childhood services, government agencies, and industry bodies.

As an experienced Chief Executive, you will bring extensive experience in leading compliance or regulatory frameworks within a legislative context, a contemporary approach to leading and developing staff teams and exceptional stakeholder engagement skills. You will have demonstrable executive leadership and strategic planning capabilities in complex organisational settings, paired with a strong commitment to quality assurance, continuous improvement, and professional integrity. A tertiary qualification relevant to the position is essential.
