Keeping school policies current

07 November 2019

Schools use a range of evidence to demonstrate the Standards for registration and review of registration of schools in South Australia.

A common form of evidence is a policy that clearly articulates the roles and responsibilities of individuals or teams and is written broadly but with enough clarity to apply to varying circumstances.

There are many different policy templates. But all contain:

  • an effective date
  • a last revision date
  • a revision history
  • sign-off from the school board or school council.

This helps to ensure your policy is current and complies with legislation.

For example, the Children and Young People (Safety) Act 2017 (SA) requires organisations to review policies and procedures at least once every five years.
